According to recent reports China Telecom, the Chinese network provider, is planning to roll out SIM only plans in the UK to target the half a million Chinese citizens who live in the UK and use SIM only services.

SIM only has become a popular mobile phone option for many people across the UK, with people from all walks of life and of all different nationalities enjoying the benefits and value for money that SIM only deals can offer. This is something that one Chinese telecoms giant has caught onto and is planning an assault on the UK SIM only market in order to get a piece of the action.

According to reports, China Telecom is planning to roll out SIM only services across the UK in order to target the half a million Chinese citizens using SIM only services who are said to be living in the UK. Instead of setting up its own infrastructure to provide these services the telecoms giant will operate as an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) and utilize existing networks.

The services that the company will provide will ensure that 3G access and competitive pricing will be available for those that want to access Chinese content or make low cost calls to other Chinese people, both nationally and internationally.

An official from China Telecom said that many Chinese people in Britain struggled to get affordable access to this sort of content and these services, which is why the company had decided to roll out SIM only services specifically targeted at this demographic.
