SIM only provider researches phone insurance
SIM only mobile provider giffgaff has carried out research into mobile phone insurance and discovered that many people in the UK are actually paying twice for their cover.
Research has recently been carried out by SIM only provider giffgaff into mobile phone insurance in the UK. Many people take out mobile phone insurance cover, particularly these days when many of us have high value smart phones that could cost a fortune to replace if they were not covered. However, the SIM only provider found that some people were actually paying for their phone insurance twice.
According to officials from giffgaff consumers in the UK could be collectively wasting millions of pounds every year on paying insurance on their mobile phone when it was actually already covered. Around two thousand people were polled as part of the giffgaff study. Many of these were actually shelling out money on taking out special mobile phone insurance cover when their phone was in fact already covered in some other way.
Over fifty percent of those that were polled had no idea that their home insurance policy actually also covered their mobile phone with many taking out separate insurance because they did not know that the device was already covered. In many cases consumers that have packaged bank accounts that come with a package of benefits also have mobile phone cover but do not realise that they have it.
Anyone that has home insurance or a packaged bank account is advised to enquire as to whether they have cover for their mobile phone before shelling out for costly phone insurance that they do not need.
